Workplace / Colmore Building

‘I’m really proud of the work the Soulful team have delivered in creating such an amazing transformation to the once dull and lifeless lift lobbies at the Colmore Building. The positive reaction to our completed design has been incredible, a true testament to the work we love doing’

Colmore Building, Birmingham

The Brief /

The Colmore Building in Birmingham is home to the regional offices of Amey, Vodafone and Grant Thornton International.

As a continuation of a £3.5m enhancement programme, the building owners Ashby Capital wanted to give the two basement lift lobbies a fresh and engaging makeover.

The brief was to help communicate that the building is a great place to work and to remind people of the recent wellbeing facilities introduced to the building. These new facilities include a coffee house, gym, cycling facilities, changing rooms and more – all being located in the basement levels of the building, which can only be accessed through the lift lobbies B1 & B2.

Our Solution /

We designed and created a fresh and engaging look that reflects the building’s identity and highlights the wellbeing facilities that are available. The hand painted wall graphics mix flat colour with granite and other paint effects to bring texture and movement to the space. Lighting adds to the effect, casting shadows which add to the atmosphere of the space.

Key messaging and signage was incorporated using CNC cut plywood with black matt laminate to the face, alongside matt black way finding signage.

The result is two fresh and engaging lift lobbies spaces, which reflect the building’s identity and clearly communicate the amazing wellbeing facilities that are on offer. The designs for each lobby have a synergy but have their own individual feel.
